Well we had a lot planned for our long 4th of July weekend and it went great. I think a lot of times the weekend comes and goes so quickly and we have nothing to remember from it. We get caught up in the same old routine and wonder why we never get to "do" anything. Well I discovered this past weekend that you have to make "it" happen. Granted we stuffed a lot into this one particular weekend, but I think we can find a balance.
We went to a ski show at Catfish Bay on Friday night and had a great time there. Steeven got to see boats on the water right in front of him and he even liked it! Tried to do some fireworks, but found out the hard way that Steeven is terrified of them, sorry little man. On Saturday we actually slept in! Well, Steeven got up at 7:30, but I brought him in bed with us and he slept until 9:30!! Had a great time at the Washington Pavilion, thanks to a membership my in-laws gave the kids for Easter, and then did our grocery shopping. Sunday we went to Watertown and spent the day with Wade's family at a hotel and even got a little pool time in. Today the girls and I went for a bike ride and the boys got the car washed, which Steeven didn't freak out about, and then we went to Toy Story 3 in the afternoon.
There were a lot of firsts happening this weekend and for the most part Steeven took them all in stride. It still amazes me how well he has adjusted to this life we have brought him into. I am reminded from time to time that adjustments do not always go so well, and while we still have the rest of his life ahead of us, God has given us a great transition right now. The health struggles he has faced have not been easy, but could have been harder I guess. We have had so much support and our kids have just been amazing.
